Financial Controller
Role overview
BSE Capital is a technology-led investment group driving positive disruption across hospitality, sports, entertainment and emerging technologies. We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of financial operations across BSE Capital, its investment vehicles and portfolio companies.
Reporting directly to the partners, you will serve as a strategic operational partner responsible for full-cycle accounting, robust internal controls, multi-entity consolidations, regulatory compliance, and high-impact financial analysis to support investment decisions and portfolio performance.
Financial reporting, accounting & controls
- Oversee full-cycle accounting, month-end and year-end closing processes across multiple legal entities.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP/IFRS.
- Design, implement and maintain internal controls, accounting policies and reporting systems to scale with portfolio growth.
- Lead and coordinate external audits, working directly with auditors, tax advisors, external accountants and financial institutions.
Budgeting, forecasting & strategic analysis
- Lead budgeting, financial forecasting and cash-flow planning across the firm, investment vehicles and portfolio entities.
- Monitor portfolio company performance, analyze variances and trends, and deliver actionable insights to leadership.
- Build financial models, scenario analyses and investment evaluations to support strategic planning and capital allocation.
Compliance, tax & investor relations
- Ensure strict compliance with statutory, regulatory and corporate tax reporting requirements across all entities.
- Coordinate with tax specialists on corporate, entity-level and transaction-related tax planning.
- Maintain compliance with fund agreements, statutory covenants and investor reporting standards.
Qualifications & experience
- Education Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field (Master’s degree is an asset).
- Certification Active CPA designation (or equivalent professional accounting credential).
- Experience 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial management experience (e.g., Financial Controller, Assistant Controller or Senior Financial Analyst).
- Industry background Prior experience in an investment firm, private equity, asset management, or managing multi-entity structures and portfolio companies.
- Technical standards Advanced knowledge of GAAP/IFRS, multi-currency reporting and complex intercompany consolidations.
- Tools & software Advanced Excel modelling and hands-on proficiency with accounting/ERP platforms (e.g., QuickBooks).
- Languages Professional working proficiency in both English and French is an asset.

- Ability to operate comfortably at both a granular operational level and a high-level strategic plane.
